Intern for a research project “Jordà–Schularick–Taylor Macrohistory Database"
The Research Center “Macroeconomics” at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy is looking for an
intern (m/f/div), full-time (38.7h/week)
for our research project on “Jordà–Schularick–Taylor Macrohistory Database” to start as soon as possible.
The Jordà–Schularick–Taylor Macrohistory Database is one of the most widely used long-run macro-financial datasets, bringing together historical macroeconomic and financial time series from multiple countries in a single, open resource. In this internship, you will learn how to collect, update and manage historical data. The internship is based in our Berlin office, where you will gain insight into how the IfW president, Prof. Moritz Schularick, and his team maintain and refine the database.

- Paid internship: Up to 3 months in Berlin (shorter durations are possible); exact start date by agreement.
What we are looking for:
- Student, enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in economics, finance, data science, or a related field.
- Comfortable using Stata or Python/R (or other analytical tools).
- Detail-oriented, methodical and able to work both in team and independently in handling data.
- Fluent in English (German not required).
- Passionate about macroeconomics and/or international finance.

The internship position is limited to three months. A part-time internship option is available to students enrolled at the University of Kiel.
