The authors explain that historical experiences and recent international comparisons show how unemployment can be eliminated by making the labor market more flexible. However, the arguments for this are ignored by the policy, which instead relies on an additional protectionist measure in the form of a statutory minimum wage. The authors warn against the risks for collective bargaining autonomy and the employment of low-skilled workers on introduction of a minimum wage.
