The Global Economy Prize is awarded to pioneers of a cosmopolitan, economically liberal, and public-spirited society. This year's motto: Courage for Change.
The Global Economy Prize is awarded by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy together with its partners, the state capital Kiel and the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Gabrielius Landsbergis is an extremely far-sighted foreign policy strategist, an outstanding analyst of geopolitical issues and a convinced European. As Foreign Minister of Lithuania, he was an early advocate of responding proactively to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with a policy of deterrence and of taking all measures necessary to help Ukraine achieve victory. Thanks to his foresight and determined analysis, he quickly helped Lithuania to become a highly respected voice in NATO.”

“Hélène Huby is an exceptionally profound connoisseur of the aviation industry, an extremely courageous entrepreneur and a successful fundraiser. She has successfully overseen the manufacture and delivery of the European service model of the Orion space shuttle. In founding the Exploration Company, she set herself the ambitious goal of developing European solutions to transport goods and people to space stations and the moon, while democratizing space exploration and making it affordable, sustainable and open. Her bold pioneering spirit makes her a shining beacon of the European space industry.”

Her extraordinary talent for embedding economic contexts in comprehensible narratives has made her a highly valued teacher among her students."
