Dr. Jürgen Stehn

The British economist Prof. Lord Nicholas Stern will receive this years Bernhard Harms Prize of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. Lord Stern is Professor of Economics and Government at the London School of Economics (LSE) and became known primarily for quantifying the economic consequences of climate change. The study made international headlines as the "Stern Report" and today forms the basis of climate economic instruments such as a pricing of CO2. The award ceremony will take place on September 4.

Three young economists based in Europe and the United States received this year’s Excellence Awards in Global Economic Affairs from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Created to promote young talent, the Excellence Awards are open to researchers and academics up to 35 years. The Theodor-Wille-Heinrich-Diedrichsen Journalismuspreis Fair Trade was awarded to two journalists for their extensive research on sexualised violence and coercion among harvest workers in Mediterranean agriculture.
