Jan Maximilian Michael has been working as a researcher at the Research Center "International Development" since April 2024. As part of this role, he is involved in the "Kiel Institute Africa Initiative" focusing on the research of African economies and examines, among other topics, the impact of financial education initiatives on the employment situation of young people in Kenya. Simultaneously, he is pursuing his PhD in Quantitative Economics at the University of Kiel. Maximilian studied Economics at the University of Mannheim, Tsinghua University in Beijing, and Humboldt University of Berlin. Before starting his work at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, he was engaged in various public affairs consultancy roles in Berlin.
