Project

ESSPIN - Economic, Social and Spatial Inequalities in Europe in the Era of Global Mega-trends

Start of Project: 01.10.2022 — End of Project: 30.09.2025

The aim of ESSPIN is to examine the impact of global megatrends on social, economic and spatial inequalities in the EU. Based on an integrated conceptual framework, the project analyzes inequalities in their different types (outcomes, opportunities, belonging, and treatment) and dimensions (social, economic, intergenerational, perceptual), taking into account that these types and dimensions of inequality are interrelated. The analyses focus on the drivers of inequality, which can be either exogenous (pandemics, climate change, or wars) or market-related (pre-, in-, or post-market). The project also analyzes the effectiveness of various reactive or proactive policies to reduce inequality at the relevant social and spatial levels.
