Industrial Policy Lab

The project focuses on evidence-based and policy-relevant research on industrial policy issues, as well as the development of a tool for ex-ante assessment of industrial policy measures in Germany. It aims to provide systematic and quantitative evaluations and cost-benefit analyses of various industrial policy measures (ex-ante). Different objectives, such as regional economic development and economic security, are to be taken into account. The assessment will draw on best practices and incorporate the latest findings from international academic research. Based on these analyses, conditions and prerequisites for successful industrial policy will be derived. The tool should also be capable of providing assessments at the micro level, i.e., at the company level.
