Public spending and public revenues of German federal governmental layers related to transport policy (original publication in German)

In Fakultät Verkehrswissenschaften „Friedrich List“ der Technischen Universität Dresden (Hrsg.), Verkehr und Mobilität in der Informationsgesellschaft. Tagungsband zu den 18. Verkehrswissenschaftlichen Tage in Dresden 17.-18. September 2001. Dresden 2001:

Against the backdrop of increasing efforts of the German federal and states’ governments to open up additional private financial sources for transport infrastructure construction this paper tries to give a comprehensive overview over transport-related public expenditures and revenues of the various federal layers in Germany. This is done by virtue of an in-depth analysis of the federal and states’ fiscal budgets and additional statistical material on local and municipal budgets. The objective is to analyse the financial scope for transport policy purposes and equally to enhance the transparency on fiscal aspects of transport policy initiatives. Based on the statistical analysis, suggestions are made for reforming transport infrastructure financing.
