Eurozone crisis: Economists issue major warning on Macron reforms


Stefan Kooths doubts the need of a common eurozone budget.

His views were echoed by Stefan Kooths from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, who said it is “completely unclear” why an additional budget for the Eurozone is needed in addition to the EU’s Cohesion Fund - cash allocated by the bloc to improve economic and social conditions in less wealthy member states.

He said: “One wonders what the specific common assets of the monetary union would be that could be financed.”
