Global Solutions Summit
Every year end of May, the high-level GLOBAL SOLUTIONS Summit takes place in Berlin with the aim of presenting and discussing solutions for urgent global problems. The policy recommendations are addressed primarily to decision-makers in the G20, G7 and other international organizations. The more than 1000 participants include international decision-makers from politics, business, science and civil society. Also young people who are actively involved in solving international problems are part of this community.
GLOBAL SOLUTIONS was held for the first time on 29/30 May 2017 in Berlin as the official closing event of the German Think 20 Dialogue (T20). There, policy recommendations were developed for the decision-makers of the G20, which addressed aspects of the German G20 presidency such as the digital economy, climate policy, finance or migration and refugees.
On 28/29 May 2018 in Berlin, the Global Solutions Summit has brought together leading think tanks from around the world, global policy-makers, business leaders and constructive NGOs with only one aim: to find solutions for global challenges.
Dennis J. Snower, President of the Global Solutions Initiative and of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, presented German Chancellor Angela Merkel with the first issue of a new journal. The Global Solutions Initiative hopes it will become a public arena for exchanging views on how to tackle the problems that cross national, social and political boundaries, a stage for global citizenship.
Global Economic Symposium
The Global Economic Symposium (GES) is an initiative launched in 2008 by the Kiel Institute. It has established significant international reputation as a research-centered, solution-oriented high-level conference and has attracted Nobel Laureates, Heads of State, Ministers, CEOs of major multinational companies, heads of international organizations, leading representatives of civil society institutions, and many other major decision makers and thought leaders in the past years.
The GES community thus comprises an innovative group of leaders from many nations, cultures and professions.
The GES hosts a number of conferences and workshops throughout the year.

Think 20 Dialogue

Under leadership of the Kiel Institute and the DIE, the T20 process has been restructured and has been organized around working groups, producing Policy Briefs focused on policy themes that are on the G20 agenda. In addition, the work was published on the web platform www.g20-insights.org and was made available to the German government.
