Workshop on Economic Security and the Future of the Global Trading System

February 24–25, 2025

We invite submissions for the Workshop on “Economic Security and the Future of the Global Trading System” at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Kiel, Germany. This event will focus on the evolving landscape of global trade and policy, bringing together leading experts in economics to discuss current and future challenges and developments.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Political economy of trade policy
  • Plurilateral trade agreements
  • Evaluation of current and future trade policies in new quantitative trade models
  • Trade frictions and fragmentation
  • Environmental policies and trade outcomes
  • Domestic drivers and outcomes of trade policies
  • Trade shocks and global value chains

The workshop is jointly organized by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Bielefeld University and RETHINK-GSC, generously sponsored by the Japanese Consulate in Hamburg.

Scientific committee: Gerald Willmann (Bielefeld University & Kiel Institute for the World Economy), Joschka Wanner (Würzburg University & Kiel Institute for the World Economy), and Julian Hinz (Bielefeld University & Kiel Institute for the World Economy).

Accommodation for two nights will be provided to accepted speakers.
 

Submission deadline: December 15, 2024. Please send full papers or extended abstracts to
tradepolicy@ifw-kiel.de. Notification of acceptance will be sent by December 30, 2025.
