Intern (m/f/div), for a research project on discrimination and attitudes towards immigrants

The research center “International Development” at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy is looking for an

intern (m/f/div), full-time

for a research project on discrimination and attitudes towards immigrants at the earliest possible date. We are a young, dynamic, research-oriented team with a large international network, focusing on international development. The intern will actively participate in a research paper that investigates channels driving attitudes toward migrants with the help of laboratory experiments. The intern will help programming and execute the behavioral experiment as well as analyzing the resulting data. Furthermore, the intern will co-author blogposts or short policy briefs based on data to help inform policymakers, businesses and the public about migration facts.

The research center “International Development” is looking for a student who:

  • Has profound programming skills in Python or R for programming the experiment as well as data preparation and analysis
  • Has knowledge of basic statistics and econometrics and the ability to apply it
  • Can think analytically and apply economic reasoning
  • Is motivated and able to work independently, accurately, and in a structured manner
  • Performs tasks responsible and reliable
  • Is interested in topics of migration and how attitudes to it form

Please note that you have to be enrolled as a student to be considered for this position.

In order to be eligible for this position you have to hold EU citizenship or need to be able to provide a work permit that is valid throughout the time of your contract. Please inform yourself about the work permit application procedure and eligibility before you apply to this internship position and be aware that the application procedure for a work permit might take up to three months.

The internship position is limited to a maximum of three months, unless it is a mandatory internship as part of your Master’s program. In the latter case up to six months are possible, please submit proof, e.g., the curriculum.

We can offer a remuneration of at least 600 € per month (gross). The exact amount will be based on the qualification of the successful candidate.
