Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel

Kiel University (CAU) was founded back in 1665. It is Schleswig-Holstein's oldest, largest and best-known university, with over 26,000 students and around 3,000 members of staff. It is also the only fully-fledged university in the state. Seven Nobel prize winners have worked here. The CAU has been successfully taking part in the Excellence Initiative of the Federal Government and the German states since 2006.

The Kiel Institute is a so-called "An-Institute" of the CAU, which means that it cooperates closely with the University, but it is not part of it. The presidency at the Kiel Institute is always associated with a full professorship at the CAU.

The cooperation includes, among others, lectures of Institute professors at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the CAU, the joint research campus Kiel Centre for Globalization and numerous other research collaborations.

The Christian-Albrechts-Universität is also a partner of the Kiel Institute's Advanced Studies Program.
