Johannes Burmeister studied Economics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität (CAU) Kiel and the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. After working as the personal assistant to the President, Prof. Dennis Snower, PhD., from June 2012 - August 2013, he joined the research area "The Environment and Natural Resources" as a research assistant and PhD Candidate, as well as at the Institute for Regional Research, Environmental and Resource Economics at CAU Kiel. From 2013 to 2015, he was involved in two research projects on the income and employment effects of the expansion of renewable energies in Schleswig-Holstein. His research interests are in the field of environmental economics, in particular the design of national and international climate policies by means of general equilibrium modeling, as well as the regional economic analysis of the expansion of renewable energies.
