Christiane Krieger-Boden is a Senior Researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, as a member of the Research Area “Global division of labor”. Besides, she is a research manager in the field of research grants acquisition for the Institute. She studied economics in Hamburg and Münster/Westphalia and started her career at the Kiel Institute in 1978 in the field of regional economics. Her research interest focuses on the effects of European integration and globalization, on the economics of borders and trade barriers, and on compensating policies. She collaborated in numerous expert reports for German federal and state ministries, for the European Commission and the IMF. Her publications in books, national and international journals deal inter alias with regional and sectoral adjustment processes in the European Union, chances and risks of the monetary union for European countries and regions, challenges from globalization and digitalization for employment and welfare, and assessments of national and European structural policies and welfare state systems.
