Aaron Lohmann is an empirical economist and a doctoral student at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and Bielefeld University since October 2022. He is part of the research project Rethink-GSC, which focuses intensively on global supply chains.

He studied economics in Bielefeld and Lisbon and applied statistics in Göttingen. As a student assistant at chairs of econometrics and development economics, he has worked on time series methodology and on using spatial data (e.g. satellite data) on the African continent.  

His research interests lie in understanding unconventional data sources and rethinking global value chains e.g. in terms of digital value creation.
