Erdal Yalcin is Professor of International Economics at Konstanz, University of Applied Sciences (HTWG) since 2018. Before his appointment to the professorship, he was Deputy Director of the Ifo Center for International Economics at the Ifo Institute. In his PhD. from the University of Tübingen he analyzed the role of uncertainty in foreign direct investment and export decisions. His research focuses on the role of uncertainty in international trade policies and on the assessment of economic effects of trade agreements. Among other topics, he analyzed the possible long-term welfare effects of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the economic consequences of a deepened customs union between the EU and Turkey. His current projects include the analysis of economic consequences of sanctions, as well as the analysis of the EU Commission's legislative proposal for new anti-dumping methods. He has published numerous articles and political reports in the field of international economics. He regularly advises various European institutions and ministries.
At the Kiel Institute, he cooperates primarily with the Trade Policy Task Force.
