Kiel Institute awards Bernhard Harms Prize 2006 to Prof. Robert C. Feenstra

On Friday, September 15, 2006, Professor Dennis J. Snower, the President of the Kiel Institute, will award the Bernhard Harms Prize 2006 to Professor Robert C. Feenstra, Ph.D..

Professor Feenstra is one of the world-wide leading trade economists. He has made outstanding contributions to our understanding of the effects of globalization. Robert Feenstra is Professor of Economics at the University of California in Davis and Director of the Center for International Data. Since 1992, he has been Programme Director for International Trade and Investment at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Professor Feenstra is Associate Editor of the American Economic Review and the Journal of International Economics.

The Bernhard Harms Prize – named after the founder of the Kiel Institute – is awarded every two years. The prize in particular honors scholars with a distinguished record in the field of international economics. The prize includes a cash award of 25,000 Euro which is contributed by the Society for the Promotion of the Kiel Institute.

The award ceremony will take place on September, 15, at 2.30 p.m. in the reading room of the library of the Kiel Institute.
