A Partnership between the European Science Foundation, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, and Schleswig-Holstein’s Biomedical „Inflammation at Interfaces" Cluster of Excellence

The Conference

A new interdisciplinary conference series on „The Global Health Economy" with the programmatic subtitle „Understanding Policy Priorities for the 21st Century" is now being launched by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in partnership with the European Science Foundation (ESF) and Schleswig-Holstein’s Biomedical „Inflammation at Interfaces" Cluster of Excellence, involving the universities at Kiel and Lübeck and the Leibniz-Research Center for Medicine and Biosciences at Borstel.

This series of ten high-level conferences, which are to take place during the next five years, will address and explore the following broad themes: Population Aging; Environmental Health and Infectious Diseases; Technological Change; Health Insurance; and Global Issues in Health Policy. They will take place at Salzau Castle near Kiel, close to the Baltic Coast. The themes of individual conferences will be defined in consultation between the Kiel Institute, the Cluster of Excellence, and ESF’s Science Committees for Social Sciences and the Humanities as well as the European Medical Research Council.
