New Forces of Global Governance—Fourth Global Economic Symposium, in Kiel
The Global Economic Symposium (GES) was held this year for the first time in Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, on 4–6 October, where more than 400 experts from all over the world met for the fourth time to discuss and find possible solutions to global problems. 2011 Global Economy Prize Awarded to Jean-Claude Trichet, Lawrence Summers, and Victor L.L. Chu
The Global Economy Prize was awarded by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the City of Kiel to Jean-Claude Trichet, the President of the European Central Bank, Lawrence Summers, former Director of the White House National Economic Council for President Obama and President Emeritus of Harvard University, and Victor L.L. Chu, Chairman of First Eastern Investment Group in Hong Kong. Bertelsmann Stiftung and IfW Sign Cooperative Agreement
The Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) will now be collaborating to organize the Global Economic Symposium (GES). The agreement for this long-term partnership was recently signed by Dr. Gunter Thielen, chairman and CEO of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, and Prof. Dennis J.
