Armutsminderung und Entwicklung
Der Forschungsbereich beschäftigt sich mit entwicklungsökonomischen Fragestellungen, wobei ein Schwerpunkt auf der Armuts- und Verteilungsproblematik liegt. Konkret dreht sich die Forschung zurzeit um die folgenden vier Themen, die jeweils für eine große Zahl von Entwicklungs- und Transformationsländern relevant sind:
- die Rolle der ländlichen Entwicklung in der Armutsbekämpfung;
- der Zusammenhang zwischen Ressourcenreichtum, Einkommensverteilung und Regierungsführung;
- die Wohlfahrtswirkungen der internationalen Migration und der damit verbundenen Rücküberweisungen;
- die Allokation und Effektivität der Entwicklungshilfe.
Um die internationale Forschungszusammenarbeit und den Austausch zwischen Wissenschaftlern und Praktikern der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit zu fördern unterhält unser Forschungsbereich das "Poverty Reduction, Equity, and Growth Network (PEGNet)".
Als Research Associate ist Jann Lay (Universität Göttingen und GIGA Hamburg) an verschiedenen Projekten des Forschungsbereichs beteiligt. Enge Forschungskooperationen bestehen darüber hinaus mit Clemens Breisinger (IFPRI), Axel Dreher (Universität Göttingen), Andrea Gawrich (CAU Kiel), Hannes Öhler (Universität Göttingen), Pablo Selaya (Universität Kopenhagen), Edward Taylor (UC Davis) und Christoph Trebesch (Hertie School of Governance und Humboldt-Universität Berlin).
